Stephanie doesn’t make plans. Which is probably why at 24 she finds herself back at home with her mum, single and unable to fit into her jeans. Without really knowing why, Steph takes us through what she feels are the most significant parts of her life so far. Could reliving the bad dates, moaning housemates and awkward waxes give her the answers as to why she’s ended up where she is? Or is the problem actually closer to home? Decibels is a one woman show written and performed by Elaine Fellows for anyone that has ever took a step back from their life and thought “what the hell am I doing?”

Jesse Michael Angelo -Director

A native of Seattle, Washington, Jesse Michael Angelo is a director and teacher of theatre and music. He’s conducted numerous choral ensembles across the United States before completing a three-year MA in Acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Jesse’s work in theatre and film includes directing new dramatic writing for the theatre as well as film and corporate work for Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference. In April 2016 he founded The Reading Room, an ongoing project supported by the Guildhall School, which conducts focused play readings and seminars on sight-reading for both actors and musicians.

Elaine Fellows is one half of new writing company Scripts and Giggles, which she runs with her childhood friend, Tim Lawless. Originally from Southport, a small town in the north west of England, Elaine moved to London to train at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama for 3 years and began writing this piece in her final year. Since the 15 minute version was born at Guildhall, Elaine has been fortunate enough to take the show on quite a journey. In September 2015 she performed it at The Royal Theatre in The Hague for one week. After that, the piece was developed further and shared at The Camden Fringe festival 2016 under a different show title. The piece you see now is finally fully complete and has regained its original title, Decibels. The performance at the Lion and Unicorn is its full length debut and Elaine is very excited to share it with you!
